# How to Recycle: Aluminum/Metal

Accepted and Not Accepted items are determined by what your Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) will and will not take. This is not to say that some of these common items are not recyclable at all, just generally not accepted with curbside recycling. We are developing a hard-to-recycle items program called Recyclops+ that is currently available in [select areas](https://recyclops.com/plus/). Here is a general list of aluminum/metal items that **are accepted** in [most areas](https://recyclops.com/locations/):

- Aluminum Beverage Cans i.e. soda, alcohol, sparkling water, energy drinks etc.
- Steel/Tin Food cans
- Pet Food cans
- Disposable Aluminum Cups
- **Empty** aerosol aluminum containers

Please ensure that **ALL ITEMS** are clean/rinsed from food debris or other residue to be recycled and bagged in the 13-gallon blue/teal Recyclops bags (if required by your area). When in doubt, please check your [area location page](https://recyclops.com/locations/) and [list of unaccepted items](https://ask.recyclops.com/common-items-that-are-not-recyclable?hsLang=en) to ensure if an item will be accepted or not.
