Accepted and Not Accepted items are determined by what your Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) will and will not take. This is not to say that some of these common items are not recyclable at all, just generally not accepted with curbside recycling. We are developing a hard-to-recycle items program called Recyclops+ that is currently available in select areas. Here is a general list of plastic items that are accepted in most areas:

  • Plastic #'s 1 & 2
    • Water Bottles
    • Soda & Other Drink Bottles
    • Laundry Detergent & Cleaning/Chemical Supply Bottles
    • Shampoos, Conditioners, & Other Soap Containers
    • Milk Jugs
    • Certain Condiment Bottles & Containers

Please ensure that ALL ITEMS are clean/rinsed from food debris or other residue to be recycled and bagged in the 13-gallon blue/teal Recyclops bags (if required by your area). If recycling bottles, the plastic caps are okay to be left on. Again, please remember this is a general list of accepted items and please note that most of our areas only accept plastics 1 and 2. When in doubt, please check your area location page and list of unaccepted items to ensure if an item will be accepted or not.
